Job Description Summary |
Perform responsible work in storeroom including, but not limited to; inventory forecasting, purchasing and returning inventory, accounting, procuring items to perform service and repairs the City of Columbia Fleet and related clerical duties to maintain the department storeroom.

Essential Job Functions |
•Receive requests for supplies, goods, materials, fuel, uniforms, etc., from superiors and operations personnel; process order forms and coordinates with vendors to obtain all materials.
•Reconcile credit card purchases and payments. •Review inventory item descriptions for updates and corrections. Maintain inventory account using computerized recordkeeping. •Solicit quotes from vendors; assist with the evaluation, awarding, and requisitioning for bids and quotes according to price. •Receive and verify shipments; check requisitions and invoices against goods and materials received; contact vendors to resolve discrepancies. •Issue parts out of inventory and contact vendors to acquire parts for vehicle mechanics, ensuring proper documentation of information on parts ordered from outside vendors. •Collect vendor invoices, checking for accuracy and delivering items to appropriate areas. Enter invoices into inventory software and file appropriately. |
Ancillary Job Functions |
•Assist in annual inventory counting and reconciling; correct any discrepancies.
•Price material and labor on repair orders; determine prices for supplies and goods using catalogs and vendor contracts. •Evaluate materials for disposal as needed. •Perform other related duties as assigned. |
Education and Experience - An equivalent combination of education, training and experience will be considered |
•High school diploma or equivalent.
•Minimum of two years of related warehouse and/or purchasing experience. •Must maintain a valid driver’s license and forklift certification. |

•Excellent multitasking and problem-solving skills.
•Proficiency in various computer software programs related to the work, including Microsoft Office Suite. •Ability to read mechanical drawings to determine parts requirements. •Ability to operate a calculator and solve basic mathematical calculations. •Knowledge of the goods, parts, materials, and supplies normally used in assigned department. •Knowledge of purchasing/finance rules and procedures. •Knowledge of office equipment operation and safety precautions. •Ability to operate a forklift. •Ability to follow oral and written instructions. •Ability to maintain effective working relationships with superiors, fellow employees, vendors, and the general public. •Excellent written and oral communication skills. •Ability to work nights and weekends as needed. |

•Positions assigned to Fleet Operations may be required to work in confined spaces, hazardous traffic conditions, or high/dangerous places.
•May be exposed to wet/humid conditions, inclement outdoor weather, extreme temperatures, mechanical oils, airborne particles/fumes, moving mechanical parts, risk of electrical shock, potentially hazardous or cancer-causing agents/chemicals, or loud noise levels. |

•Regularly required to talk and listen. •Must be able to grasp, push, stand, walk, drive, reach with hands/arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, climb/balance, operate mechanical equipment, and move up and down from/to sitting position on the floor. •Regularly required to have repetitive wrist, hand, and/or finger movement to type and work on computer. •Must have clarity of vision, three-dimensional vision, precise hand-eye coordination, and ability to identify and distinguish colors. •Positions assigned to Fleet Operations may be required to lift 100 or more pounds. •Regular attendance is a necessary and essential function. |
