Job Description Summary |
Perform preventative maintenance on plant equipment and provide guidance and assistance to other mechanics in order to keep equipment failures at a minimum.

Essential Job Functions |
•Perform a variety of maintenance and repair work on plant equipment, including pumps, fans, gear boxes, shafts, chemical feed equipment, water lines, valves, belts, motors, electrical panels, generators, boilers, bar screens, and the like. Perform offsite pump station repair/diagnostics.
•Diagnose mechanical defects and take appropriate actions. •Provide guidance and assistance to other maintenance personnel in performing preventative maintenance and diagnostics on essential plant equipment. •Participate in ongoing upgrading of plan equipment in order to keep processes as efficient as possible. •Perform preventative maintenance on buildings, equipment, plumbing, and electrical fixtures and systems; prepare and paint walls, doors, ceilings, machinery, and equipment. •Perform electrical and plumbing work; replace fixture, switches, receptacles, and wiring; and repair faucets, valves, lines, and the like. |
Ancillary Job Functions |
•Maintain and repair heating, ventilation, and air conditioning units and systems.
•Order necessary parts and materials needed for plant store room or equipment. •Perform other related duties as assigned. |
Education and Experience - An equivalent combination of education, training and experience will be considered |
•High school diploma or equivalent required.
•Minimum of three years relevant experience. •Must possess and maintain a valid Class B CDL driver’s license with airbrake endorsement within six months of hire. •Must possess and maintain a valid Missouri level “D” or higher water treatment or wastewater treatment operator’s license within one year of hire. |

•Considerable knowledge of practices, tools, and equipment associated with one or more trades, such as plumbing, electrical, painting, HVAC, or related field.
•Ability to operate a forklift. •Basic knowledge of electrical theory and safety. •Ability to operate basic office equipment, such as computer, copier, and fax machine. •Considerable knowledge of standard hand and power tools/equipment used in plant maintenance and repair activities. •Considerable knowledge of safety standards and precautions pertaining to plant maintenance and repair work. •Ability to guide, train, and assist less experienced employees. •Ability to operate diagnostic equipment in order to diagnose problems and make repairs on a variety of plant equipment and systems. •Ability to operate hand and power tools in a safe, efficient manner. •Ability to follow oral and written instructions. •Ability to work cooperatively with others. •Ability to wear a respirator and/or self contained breathing apparatus (SCBA) as outlined in the Industrial standard for Respirator Use. •Ability to work outside normal business hours. •Ability to work on-call and respond at all hours of the day/night. •Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and safe manner |

•May be exposed to wet/humid conditions, inclement outdoor weather, vibration, mechanical oils, extreme heat, airborne particles/fumes, moving mechanical parts, risk of electrical shock, very loud noise levels, potentially hazardous bodily fluids, or potentially hazardous or cancer-causing agents/chemicals.
•May be required to work in confined spaces, hazardous traffic conditions, or high/dangerous places. •Exposed to very loud noise levels. •May be required to wear a respirator in certain situations. |
