Job Description Summary
Ensure proper treatment of wastewater according to specifications on DNR permit and EPA parameters. Maintain all records and analysis of operation of the Wastewater Treatment Plant in accordance with federal, state, and local guidelines.
Essential Job Functions
•Maintain proper records and equipment analysis for function and operation of the City’s Wastewater Treatment Plant.

•Make periodic rounds of treatment plant, constructed wetlands, and satellite pump stations to observe operating conditions and interpret meter and gauge readings. Take water samples and test results, taking appropriate action as needed.

•Record data from meters, gauges, and control panels; process control changes logged in daily electronic log records.

•Ensure all plant safety guidelines are met.

•Process work orders and maintenance repair orders; perform minor maintenance and preventative maintenance; and assist in other maintenance and repair activities.

•Operate equipment to move materials, supplies, equipment, and debris.
Ancillary Job Functions
•Perform proper cleanup and janitorial duties throughout the plant.

•Attend meetings regarding events, operations, and communication issues.

•Perform other related duties as assigned.
Education and Experience - An equivalent combination of education, training and experience will be considered
•High school diploma or equivalent required.

•Must obtain a valid Missouri “D” level wastewater operator’s certificate within first six months after hire.

•Must maintain a valid driver’s license and excellent driving record.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities which may be representative, but not all-inclusive of those commonly associated with this position
•Some knowledge of standard practices, methods, tools, materials, and equipment of wastewater treatment activities, including occupational hazards connected with wastewater treatment.

•Ability to operate overhead cranes, hand tools, electric drills, air drills, hand wrenches, and other tools as needed.

•Ability to read meters and gauges and to interpret findings, take water samples, and conduct routine laboratory tests.

•Knowledge of personal computer operation sufficient to use word processing software, spreadsheets and operate the plant SCADA system.

•Ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions.

•Ability to work cooperatively with others.
Work Environment – Environmental or atmospheric conditions commonly associated with the performance of the functions of this job
•May be exposed to wet/humid conditions, inclement outdoor weather, vibration, extreme temperatures, oils, airborne particles/fumes, moving mechanical parts, risk of electrical shock, potentially hazardous bodily fluids, potentially hazardous or cancer-causing agents/chemicals, or loud noise levels.

•May be required to work in confined spaces or high/dangerous places.

•May be required to wear a respirator in certain situations.

•Must have clarity of vision, three-dimensional vision, precise hand-eye coordination, and ability to identify and distinguish colors.

•Must be able to lift up to 150 pounds.

•Regular attendance is a necessary and essential function.
Day shift (7 am to 7 pm)
Night shift (7 pm to 7 am)
12 hours per day working Monday, Tuesday, Friday, Saturday one week and Sunday, Wednesday, Thursday the following week.
Supervision Exercised
Starting Salary $16.68/hr plus shift differential of $0.75 per hour for all hours worked from 6 pm - 6 am.
Pay Grade A9

NOTE: Employees that work between the hours of 6 p.m. and 6 a.m. are eligible for $0.75 per hour shift differential.
